Bath Area Family YMCA offers athletic and social service programs to residents in the Greater Bath, Maine, area. The YMCA is a 58,000 square foot facility that features a 400-seat gymnasium, aquatic center with swimming and lap pools, fitness center childcare room, locker rooms and a teen center fully equipped with music, television, computers and tables. Members have full use of all facilities for leisure swims, open basketball, volleyball, use of the racquet ball courts, the game room and the climbing wall. The fitness center and track are open during all regular operating hours. Other benefits of membership include priority registration for programs, daily fitness classes and many special events throughout the year. The first meeting of the Bath Area Family YMCA was held at the Central Church in Bath on May 30, 1856, just after the Boston YMCA opened. The membership fee was $1.00 per year for active membership and .75 per year for an associate membership.
