Bach to Rock offers private and group instruction in guitar, bass, drums, piano, mandolin, trumpet, flute, saxaphone, violin, voice and recording arts.
Corporate and birthday parties give participants a chance to try many different instruments. Teamwork is required to get everyone working together to create music, which gets recorded for the musicians to take home. The studio is also available for rent, complete with help from an engineer.
In addition to music instruction for all ages, Bach to Rock's recording studio can be rented.
Though musical instruments are not sold here, you can pick up music books, apparel and some gift items.
PrepMatters is a Bethesda, Maryland, based test preparation and tutoring company with an office in downtown McLean. PrepMatters helps students excel in standardized tests including the SAT, ACT, GMAT and others, through tutoring and group lessons. PrepMatters also offers an "Essay Boot Camp" for prospective students who need help in the college admissions process.
Oakwood School is an independent day school for students ages 5 to 14 years old with mild to moderate learning differences. Oakwood is a non-sectarian school whose goal is to offer those students a multisensory education so that they can accomplish all of their academic and social potential. The school serves as a co-educational day school for elementary and middle school students. Programs offered included speech therapy and occupational therapy. Each class at Oakwood is kept small, between 8 and 13 students, in order for each skilled teacher to devote an adequate amount of time and attention to each student.

C2 Education Center provides after-school tutoring for students from grades K-12. It is a national chain, headquartered in Duluth, GA. C2 tutors in math, reading and writing and offers services in College Prep and homework, among other areas. Study groups usually do not exceed three students.
Montessori Children's Center is a Montessori school offering programs for ages 2 through 12. For toddlers, it offers a pre-kindergarten program that focuses on social interaction and the development of a love of learning. The pre-school program develops in children the independence and self-discipline needed at this age, along with sensorial exercises and activities designed to prepare them for math, science and other subjects they'll face in school. For kindergartners, the major subjects of elementary life are further developed by engaging the children in a variety of hands-on activities. Arlington Montessori House (AMH) is known as the "Hippo House" by the families of its students. AMH follows the Montessori philosophy of teaching, allowing children freedom to learn within limits. AMH has two classes of 28 children of mixed ages. Each class is taught by a teacher and an assistant. AMH is on a three-year program, and expects their families to enroll their children from age three until kindergarten. AMH is parent-run, and the parents are involved in all aspects of the school.
Bach to Rock is a music school for individuals of all ages and actively encourages students to play the music they like as a key element of its fun-first teaching style. Part of a national music instruction chain, it offers individual and group instrument and vocal lessons, band coaching and recording. It also hosts birthday parties for kids ages four and up.
Rachel Carson Middle School opened in 1998; students who attend are part of the Oakton High School pyramid. The school has won many awards and received recognition such as "Schools to Watch" by the Virginia Middle School Association. Rachel Carson offers foreign-language courses and advanced and gifted courses; it also has a college partnership.
Astar Education Institute is a Chinese and English language school. It is located just behind Sudley Manor on Donegan Drive. Astar prides itself on having a highly trained staff, where all the teachers have at least a bachelor's degree and most hold a master's degree.
When learning a language, the mechanics and basics are important, of course. However, you really can't be a successful communicator if you do not know the culture which is why Astar offers a variety of electives and culture classes. Students can learn about American art history, encountering the Chinese, regional American cooking and doing business with the Chinese.
George Mason High School is operated by Falls Church City Public Schools. It is the only high school in the four-school district. The school covers grades eight through 12.
